What does your school offer our child?

St Augustine's is a Catholic primary school from Prep to Year Seven. The school's population is approximately 490 students.

Our school, is arranged in four learning stages, in line with QSA models. In 2008 there are five classes in each learning stage, each of which incorporate a co-operative teaching philosophy providing specialist attention to individual learning needs, enriching student learning opportunities and preparing student for the transition into secondary schooling. We employ PE specialists, a Music specialist, a French language teacher, a visual arts teacher and an Information Technology Specialist. The cost of these specialists is met through school fees.

What are the school fees?

What is the procedure for enrolling my child?

We will mail the enrolment form and the parent handbook to you. Alternatively you can download the enrolment form from this website (see enrolment information). The Parent Handbook is also available from this web. Please complete the enrolment form and return to the school with the following documentation (Birth certificate / baptism certificate / latest school report (if applicable) Please also include any other necessary documentation (medical reports / court orders etc). Upon receipt of the enrolment form we will contact you to arrange an interview with the principal.

Does the school charge an enrolment fee / enrolment deposit?

Yes. If your child is accepted into the school the enrolment fee is $55.00. We also ask new families for a holding deposit which is credited against the First Term school fees.

Can non-Catholic children enrol?

The school follows an enrolment criteria which is available to read on this web site in the enrolment section. Siblings of children already enrolled have first enrolment priority followed by Catholic children within the parish; then by Catholic children outside the parish and finally non Catholic children. The principal, in consultation with the Parish Priest makes the final decision regarding all matters of enrolment.

Is your school a private / independent school?

St Augustine's is a Catholic primary school and is one of approximately 140 schools managed by the Archdiocese of Brisbane.

What are your class sizes?

Our average class size is 24.6 students. Individual class sizes for 2008 vary from 20 in the Infant Classes to a maximum of 28 students.

Are the children taught another language other than English?

Yes. French language and culture in Year 5, 6 and 7.

Does your school teach music?

Yes. We have a part-time music teacher.

Do you have a preschool or prep?

In 2008, the school, along with all schools in Queensland will have a Prep class. Prep is a non-compulsory full time program .

Do you have before and after school care?

Our OSHC (Outside School Hours Care) runs separately to the school, though its location and philosophy are linked to the school.

Morning care is available from 7:00 am

Do you take overseas students?

No. Our school is not registered with the Commonwealth to enrol overseas students.

Do you have a support teacher?

Yes. The school has two Support Teachers - Inclusive Education who manage programs to ...

Does your school offer any extra curricula activities?

Yes. Piano Lessons / Speech & Drama / School Band / Chess Classes / Art Classes / Violin Lessons 

How much religion is taught within the curriculum?

Religion is taught both as a Key Learning Area and as an integral component of all school activities. The direct teaching component is in the order of 30 minutes per day.
